CRYSTAL-PRINT SHEATH DRESS
Nov 13rd, 2016
Technically I should have “plenty” of time to enjoy a cup of coffee at ease in a café. Well, like most of you, my day gets filled with pursuits and responsibilities like two young boys, my high standard for house organization/tidiness, and my various creative outlets…. etc… So I made an extra effort to have a nice café day.
FALL ESSENTIAL: TRENCH COAT
Oct 19th, 2016
I am a big fan of trench coats, partly because they are very giving for various body types. A trench coat is a necessary component of your wardrobe for Fall and extends its usage further for rainy winter weather locations like the west coast in the US.
The one pictured in today’s post was purchased almost 4 years and has been absolutely my all time favorite. I especially like the contrast between black double breast buttons and the mustard color. Wearing it open with the belt loosely tied in the back, or completely buttoned up can be flattering and cool-looking. Plus, trench coat durability makes the investment worthwhile since they can last many years.
B & W , ALL TIME FAVORITE
Oct 10th, 2016
Though Portland is heading into Fall rainy season, a sunny day provides a sun shower and an opportunity to hunt for one of our locally famous food trucks.
Many in the fashion industry suggest less white once Fall starts, or that white is not ideal for Winter…etc. For me, B & W is classy all year with a good cut to match the occasion or my mood. The Balenciaga top was purchased at the same time as the lace set from “Lace, Every woman’s dream“. I tend to shop while I am in an international city like Shanghai to take advantage of it. : )
LACE, EVERY WOMAN’S DREAM
Sep 30th, 2016
When I see someone wearing gorgeous lace clothing, I think “WOW, she is so elegant!” However, the subtle doubt creeps in: “I never look nice in lace”. Lace has always a dream for me and today can be for you!
NEVER SAY NEVER! Today I feature Sandro Paris’s Lace set: a cropped lace top and matching lace pencil skirt with a slit on the side. I fell in love with it at first sight and trying it on further confirmed it was a perfect style and cut for me!
CELEBRATING 10 YEARS
Aug 23rd, 2016
My husband is a very private person. He is not any social network. He does not like me publish any picture of him or our sons over the internet. However, in this post you will see a few picture of him. I just simply can’t write a blog about our 10 years anniversary without a picture of him!
To me, it is very important to make every special days special! Life with two children could be very busy and hectic. The worst thing I want to see is I don’t have any special memory when I am too old to do anything ! Hence, I always make efforts to make a special day memorable. Luckily, my husband always supports me!
PLEATED SKIRT AND BLACK TOP
Aug 3rd, 2016
Reading has absolutely became a luxury for me ever since I had children. If I remember correctly, I only finished reading one book “Snow Flower and Secret Fan” by Lisa Lee in the last 4 years. Then I stayed in a relaxing Thai beach villa which belongs to YourKohSamuiVillas. : )
It was a good day to visit Powell’s book store, little bit of drizzling rain off and on. It was a chilly day so I wore a long sleeve top. I paired it with pleated skirt I got when I was in Rome last year. The black top has a cut open on the back. It really helps showing off the skirt!
WHEN NAVY MEETS WHITE
July 10, 2016
Like everything else in the world, Style has its own rules. To dress stylishly, you need to understand these rules, practice them, excel and then perhaps break them.
July 1st, 2016
A very dear friend from San Fransisco visited me. We became friends before we even met each other in person. : ) I invited her to join two of my photo sessions and she will appear in my blog as guest appearance. P.S, She herself is a fashionista!
When weather is nice in Portland, nothing compares to taking a walk at downtown waterfront in the dawn time. Mountains in the far, clear blue sky with floating clouds, multiple bridges crossing over willamette river, green grass covering the ground…. all of these are calling to wear a bright color block.
Hello everyone! Welcome to Style Right! Before I share today’s look, let me tell you a little bit about myself and also why I feel so passionate about fashion.
I grew up in a small town in China. My father was a well-respected business man. My mother not only had to take care of my sister, brother and me, but also worked full time in my father’s factory. As a result, she kept my hair short to save herself time until I went to high school. She also didn’t have much time to shop or knit clothes for me, 95% of my wardrobes were handed down from my sister and brother.
With boyish short hair plus handed-down clothes, most of my father’s friends were concerned no man on earth was going to marry me ever. Neither their concern nor my boyish look bothered me at the time, and I still liked to dress up: putting scarfs on my head to be my pretended long hair, wearing my mother or sister’s jewelries or secretly trying my mom’s lipsticks……
My sister with psychology study background told me why I like to buy clothes, always dress myself pretty has everything to do with my childhood experience. Psychologically I am trying to make up for what I didn’t have in my childhood. So THAT is the origin of my passion for fashion!
Many years went by, now I ended up living in Portland, Oregon, United States with my own family. I have two beautiful boys, one is almost 4, the other is a bit over 2. Before I quit my job at Intel 3 years ago, I was a program manager there. Ever since then, I have been a full time mom. I remember I received countless compliments at work for how great I looked everyday. Often time they would thought I specially dress up for coming to work. 🙂 Nowadays I still get compliments all the time from my dance friends when I am out dancing , by strangers while I strolling around on the street, or by school teachers or parents when I go pick up my kids…… All of those compliments have planted a seed in my heart that I should be in fashion industry sharing my passion , looks and tips to become others’ inspiration!
Now you have known why I start this blog. Without further due, let me share today’s look: wearing a simple dress but with interesting details is always something I like and strive. I love those grommets of different shapes on the bottom of the dress, which brings a bit of industrial feel to this dress. Paring it with pearl earring and necklaces is my attempt to soften the industrial feel.
