If you’ve been following my blog for a while, you probably already know that jewelry is MY THING. When it comes to jewelry, my motto is the more the merrier! A big fan of jewelry in general, I love the way it transforms the most casual outfits into polished and sophisticated ensembles and adds that perfect finishing touch to any night-time look!
The designer for all the jewelry I am featuring today is Wenjing Yang, a Portland-based designer. Wenjing was in apparel design industry for about a decade before she started designing jewelry. Making jewelry is what she loves to do now and it also offers her the freedom and balance she needs between working and taking care of her family. Every year A NOD (TO) DESIGN partners with a non-profit organization, donating 5% of every sale. This year it is teaming up with The Oregon Food Bank to make sure no one suffers from hunger. (more…)
I have been having so much fun playing with different styles of outfits to still entertain Spring but yet transition to Summer. This is the second time I am trying this new way of sharing multiple looks in one post. I would love for you to leave me some feedback on this. Positive feedback, improvement suggestions and critiques are all welcome! Here are the 4 looks I am sporting today:
Spring is here which calls for some new additions to my wardrobe. Below are four of my new spring looks that I would like to share with you. Each with their own flavor and feel. This spring I aim to diversify my closet and I am hoping to inspire you to do the same!
Everyone should have a sweater wrap for Fall, in my opinion. Why? Because it is super easy to put on, makes you feel cozy and you can throw over any outfit when you need some extra warmth. The best part: wrap it up and there is your second look with the same sweater!
I’m way more open to try different styles and colors of things these days than I used to be. I feel like there is no such thing as “I don’t look good in red,” or “a skirt never looks good on me,” etc. It is really just a matter of finding a perfect design and fit. It took me years to come to that realization. I am very happy with how open minded I am now with trying different things and explore what works and what doesn’t.
Aside from fashion, my other passion over the last 10 years has been dancing Argentine tango. The look you are seeing in today’s post was shot when I attended San the Francisco Tango Marathon last November. (I know, it sounds so long ago already!)
Usually during a tango festival or marathon I dance day and night, meet friends for meals, get a bit of sleep, and don’t get to do much of anything else. But this time, I was very happy I took a half-day break from dancing, and went to Bernal Heights park for a photo shoot.
Today is Thanksgiving, so I want to take this opportunity to express my appreciation.
First of all, I am very thankful for my husband providing the support and love that our family needs to fully function and grow. Ever since I started blogging, I have photo or video shoots almost every week. He often plays the role of both daddy and mommy during this time. I am also very thankful for my two loving boys showering me with their “infinite” love (according to them that is “how big” :>).
I am thankful for my loving friends who have provided tremendous support toward my blog’s success.
Last but not least, a big thanks to you, my blog readers/fans! You have shared your time and engagement to challenge or inspire me for betterment during this blogging journey.
Hello everyone! I hope you had a fun weekend, especially those of you celebrating Father’s Day. I am finally over my jetlag from my recent trip to China and am excited to share some posts about summer looks with you (just in time for the hot days ahead)!
Those of you who have been following me would know I had created a look with this ACNE STUDIOPINK VEST in a previous post:
Today, on my trip to the Pearl district to meet up with a friend, I modified the look a bit by changing to jean shorts paired with a over-the-knee boots. This is an example of my fashion/styling philosophy: being able to reuse a single piece of clothing to create multiple looks is one of the keys to being fashionable! (more…)
You may already know my philosophy against chasing fashion. I do not drive my purchase decisions based on what is “IN” today. For me, style should expresses your personality as well as inner essence rather than being “IN”!
Spring in Portland presents a challenge to dress correctly with ever changing weather, even on the same day. Yet, I am so HAPPY the long cold winter is finally over! Spring is calling for colors and this electric blue down jacket became my first choice for the day. The light blue coat wasn’t planned in preparation for today’s look; but, the suddenly chilly windy day pushed its way in.
Portland weather has been having some dramatic changes over the last couple of weeks. It was over 90 the wk before and this wk is down to 50-60’s. I had to take out couple pieces of clothes I had put away including this grey jacket.(more…)
I visited Portland Art Museum about a wk ago. I wore my new prescription glasses in order to see arts well. I often feel like a sponge (ready to observe and get educated) when I either go to museums or universities. For that reason, I tend to dress more casual, more of a “Studious type” but not boring look when I go to those places.
Pink is usually not my cup of tea. When I saw this pink vest at “Frances May” local store , I fell in love as soon as I tried it on! The style of this vest matches with my style. Even pink isn’t really my thing but I decided to give it try. Besides, wearing pink in spring time is like having a date with your favorite person! I would have worn a sleeveless white shirt underneath but I went with longer sleeve because it was a bit chilly. (more…)
