MAXMARA TRENCH COAT
Nov 30th, 2016
Technically I should have “plenty” of time to enjoy a cup of coffee at ease in a café. Well, like most of you, my day gets filled with pursuits and responsibilities like two young boys, my high standard for house organization/tidiness, and my various creative outlets…. etc… So I made an extra effort to have a nice café day.
I can’t remember when I first met Phoenix through Tango. What a special name, right?!Well, Phoenix is a really cool person just as her name. She is the mom of 3 kids, a dancer, musician, skateboarder, and research at OHSU. Her typical outfit is loose fit pants and a comfortable black or neutral color top with sneakers. She usually put her hair in a bun. In my mind, she successfully hides her beauty!! 🙂
Since I see Phoenix in Tango from time to time, I have a pretty good understanding of her style even though people do dress a bit differently for tango. My immediate instinct of styling after my 1 hour session of checking her closet: add more colors, patterns, or more fitted styles dresses or pencil skirt. Those options give her a pulled together look that will that complements her natural beauty . Luckily, Phoenix was very excited by my ideas!
Happy Monday to everyone!! I know Monday is usually not the happiest day of the week for most people. Hopefully this post gives you a quick break from your busy Monday schedule. : )
Today, I am introducing another trench coat look. Yes, I am definitely in the mood for trench coat these days so I named this post “In the trench coat”. 🙂 In my last post, I shared a look with a burberry trench coat paired with a dress. This time, I paired a traditional gray trench coat with a casual shirt and wool capri pants.
I am a big fan of trench coats, partly because they are very giving for various body types. A trench coat is a necessary component of your wardrobe for Fall and extends its usage further for rainy winter weather locations like the west coast in the US.
The one pictured in today’s post was purchased almost 4 years and has been absolutely my all time favorite. I especially like the contrast between black double breast buttons and the mustard color. Wearing it open with the belt loosely tied in the back, or completely buttoned up can be flattering and cool-looking. Plus, trench coat durability makes the investment worthwhile since they can last many years.
A trench coat is a key wardrobe piece that enhances your sophistication and elegance. Now you have a big opportunity to complete a fall look that can also be used for winter in not-so-cold Portland. Join us at Portland Moule Sat Nov 5th 2016 for a Trench Coat fashion evening!
I am going to share my thoughts on versatile looks with trench coats.

Love you all!
Though Portland is heading into Fall rainy season, a sunny day provides a sun shower and an opportunity to hunt for one of our locally famous food trucks.
Many in the fashion industry suggest less white once Fall starts, or that white is not ideal for Winter…etc. For me, B & W is classy all year with a good cut to match the occasion or my mood. The Balenciaga top was purchased at the same time as the lace set from “Lace, Every woman’s dream“. I tend to shop while I am in an international city like Shanghai to take advantage of it. : )
When I see someone wearing gorgeous lace clothing, I think “WOW, she is so elegant!” However, the subtle doubt creeps in: “I never look nice in lace”. Lace has always a dream for me and today can be for you!
NEVER SAY NEVER! Today I feature Sandro Paris’s Lace set: a cropped lace top and matching lace pencil skirt with a slit on the side. I fell in love with it at first sight and trying it on further confirmed it was a perfect style and cut for me!
16′ FALL MOULE GIFT CARD GIVEAWAY
Sep 30th, 2016
This is a very exciting giveaway for the Fall!!
Those of you who followed me since I started Style Right blog would know in “CASUAL BLACK AND WHITE” post, I talked briefly about Moule boutique store in Portland and why it is so special to me.
Moule is the very first shop I ever shopped when I moved from China to Portland 10 years ago. First time I went there, I was expressed by the size of the store, the variety of goods, the overall taste of everything there, as well as warm, helpful and friendly staffs. Since then I have been shopping there regularly for 10 YEARS!! I knew all of their store managers, most of their staffs and owner Rachel Mara. I am always happy when I shop there. : )
Today’s guest is Victoria whose fashion taste centers on casual, low-key and comfortable clothes for daily routines and glamorous dress-up only for special occasions. As a designer for Studio Define, Victoria’s go-getter attitude requires her to be frequently out and about. Wearing something comfortable is something very important !
The picture below shows a typical daily casual look. Let us call this “before look”.
The goal of the styling session is to help her find more other styles of clothing that will suit her g0-getter lifestyle and comfort. With that in mind, I came up with below two looks:
If you can choose only one thing for the entire summer to wear, what would be that one thing for you?
This pretty black and white floral trouser jumpsuit takes comfort to a whole new level! If I could spend the entire of summer wearing just the one thing, this would be “THE THING”. In addition to great fabric choice, comfort and great fit, I love that this jumpsuit is hard to wrinkle. I can sit, slouch or even twist myself into a pretzel without being afraid of those pesky little wrinkles.
