Though Portland is heading into Fall rainy season, a sunny day provides a sun shower and an opportunity to hunt for one of our locally famous food trucks.
Many in the fashion industry suggest less white once Fall starts, or that white is not ideal for Winter…etc. For me, B & W is classy all year with a good cut to match the occasion or my mood. The Balenciaga top was purchased at the same time as the lace set from “Lace, Every woman’s dream“. I tend to shop while I am in an international city like Shanghai to take advantage of it. : ) (more…)
When I see someone wearing gorgeous lace clothing, I think “WOW, she is so elegant!” However, the subtle doubt creeps in: “I never look nice in lace”. Lace has always a dream for me and today can be for you!
NEVER SAY NEVER! Today I feature Sandro Paris’s Lace set: a cropped lace top and matching lace pencil skirt with a slit on the side. I fell in love with it at first sight and trying it on further confirmed it was a perfect style and cut for me! (more…)
This is a very exciting giveaway for the Fall!!
Those of you who followed me since I started Style Right blog would know in “CASUAL BLACK AND WHITE” post, I talked briefly about Moule boutique store in Portland and why it is so special to me.
Moule is the very first shop I ever shopped when I moved from China to Portland 10 years ago. First time I went there, I was expressed by the size of the store, the variety of goods, the overall taste of everything there, as well as warm, helpful and friendly staffs. Since then I have been shopping there regularly for 10 YEARS!! I knew all of their store managers, most of their staffs and owner Rachel Mara. I am always happy when I shop there. : )
Today’s guest is Victoria whose fashion taste centers on casual, low-key and comfortable clothes for daily routines and glamorous dress-up only for special occasions. As a designer for Studio Define, Victoria’s go-getter attitude requires her to be frequently out and about. Wearing something comfortable is something very important !
The picture below shows a typical daily casual look. Let us call this “before look”.
The goal of the styling session is to help her find more other styles of clothing that will suit her g0-getter lifestyle and comfort. With that in mind, I came up with below two looks:
If you can choose only one thing for the entire summer to wear, what would be that one thing for you?
This pretty black and white floral trouser jumpsuit takes comfort to a whole new level! If I could spend the entire of summer wearing just the one thing, this would be “THE THING”. In addition to great fabric choice, comfort and great fit, I love that this jumpsuit is hard to wrinkle. I can sit, slouch or even twist myself into a pretzel without being afraid of those pesky little wrinkles. (more…)
This is not me of course. : ) Her name is Carina and she is part of my blog team. Recently she and my photographer took a trip to Peru together. I dream to go one day after seeing all the breath-taking pictures!
My husband is a very private person. He is not any social network. He does not like me publish any picture of him or our sons over the internet. However, in this post you will see a few picture of him. I just simply can’t write a blog about our 10 years anniversary without a picture of him!
To me, it is very important to make every special days special! Life with two children could be very busy and hectic. The worst thing I want to see is I don’t have any special memory when I am too old to do anything ! Hence, I always make efforts to make a special day memorable. Luckily, my husband always supports me! (more…)
Reading has absolutely became a luxury for me ever since I had children. If I remember correctly, I only finished reading one book “Snow Flower and Secret Fan” by Lisa Lee in the last 4 years. Then I stayed in a relaxing Thai beach villa which belongs to YourKohSamuiVillas. : ) It was a good day to visit Powell’s book store, little bit of drizzling rain off and on. It was a chilly day so I wore a long sleeve top. I paired it with pleated skirt I got when I was in Rome last year. The black top has a cut open on the back. It really helps showing off the skirt!
A very dear friend from San Fransisco visited me. We became friends before we even met each other in person. : ) I invited her to join two of my photo sessions and she will appear in my blog as guest appearance. P.S, She herself is a fashionista!
When weather is nice in Portland, nothing compares to taking a walk at downtown waterfront in the dawn time. Mountains in the far, clear blue sky with floating clouds, multiple bridges crossing over willamette river, green grass covering the ground…. all of these are calling to wear a bright color block.
My very first exciting giveaway is just in time for the Summer! 🙂 Those of you who read my blog on regular basis may remember in Floral Pants blog, I talked about “recycle” as part of my styling philosophy. Well…, now I am going to “recyling” the top in below pictures to someone who fall in love with it at first sight:

Any of you noticed those words in the banner of my website : Reuse, Revive, Reconstruct, Rearrange, Recycle? I don’t think I have ever explained why they were chosen or matters to my styling blog. Those are the words chosen to reflect my overall styling philosophy:
Reuse: Sometimes we need buy certain thing just to match with one particular outfit. We forget about it after this outfit. Learn to build this habit of reusing things you obtained for one single purpose.
Revive: Don’t any of you have this experience : you remembered an outfit from a movie or a book from way back. It sticked around in your head for a long time because you liked it so much. The idea of revive is to able to revoke something from the past. Present a past style you like by adding your personal touch to it.
Portland weather has been having some dramatic changes over the last couple of weeks. It was over 90 the wk before and this wk is down to 50-60’s. I had to take out couple pieces of clothes I had put away including this grey jacket.(more…)
I visited Portland Art Museum about a wk ago. I wore my new prescription glasses in order to see arts well. I often feel like a sponge (ready to observe and get educated) when I either go to museums or universities. For that reason, I tend to dress more casual, more of a “Studious type” but not boring look when I go to those places.
Pink is usually not my cup of tea. When I saw this pink vest at “Frances May” local store , I fell in love as soon as I tried it on! The style of this vest matches with my style. Even pink isn’t really my thing but I decided to give it try. Besides, wearing pink in spring time is like having a date with your favorite person! I would have worn a sleeveless white shirt underneath but I went with longer sleeve because it was a bit chilly. (more…)
